Strength of Character!

Strength of Character!

It's easy to be appreciative,
when all is going well
when there is no conflict
upon which to dwell.

But, when times get tough,
we often aren't thankful
our attitudes don't reflect
the reasons we are grateful.

It's through the storms of life,
where we can learn to start
how to grow and develop
gratefulness in our heart.

So when taken off course,
don't think of it as detour
be thankful God's creating in you
a stronger strength of character!

A Different View of Halloween

"What is it like to be a Christian?"

"It is like being a pumpkin.
God picks you from the patch,
brings you in,
and washes all the dirt off of you.

Then He cuts off the top and scoops out all the yucky stuff.
He removes the seeds of doubt,
hate,
greed,
etc.,

...and then He carves you a new smiling face and puts His
light inside of you to shine for all the world to see."

I Don't A regret a mile

I Don't Regret A Mile

I've dreamed many dreams that never came true.
I've seen them vanish at dawn.
But I've realized enough of my dreams, thank God,
To make me want to dream on.

I've prayed many prayers, when no answers came,
Though I waited patient and long,
But answers came to enough of my prayers
To make me keep praying on.

I've trusted many a friend that failed
And left me to weep alone,
But I've found enough of my friends true blue
To make me keep trusting on.

I've sown many seeds that fell by the way
For the birds to feed upon,
But I have held enough golden sheaves in my hands
To make me keep sowing on.

I've drained the cup of disappointment and pain
And gone many days without song,
But I've sipped enough nectar from the roses of life
To make me want to live on.

Heavenly harmony

With nimble fingers dashing across the keyboard
they created melody with every chord.
My soul was lifted to heaven as they began
their duet on the piano and church organ.

"Praise God," I cried hearing the melodious sound
bringing joy to us all as we gathered around.
Joining in with our voices we worshipped and praised
and to heavens' mighty throne our anthem we raised.

"Thank You Lord," for the many gifts you have given
and bestowed upon mere mortal men and women,
so that we can gather together in Your name
and with glorious harmony Your praise proclaim.

Earth was kissing heaven and heaven kissing earth
as we sang out our praise with such gusto and mirth.
We were in complete unity as we declared
our love to God in that time together we shared.

Rejoicing In The Lord

Rejoicing In The Lord

I am happy in the Lord today.
My heart is glad as I rejoice.
All is well within my soul
Since I made Jesus my choice.

Trials may come into my life,
But I'll never cease to pray.
I will trust in His wisdom,
For He will show me the way.

God fills my heart with peace.
He is a great friend so true.
He supplies my every need
And gives extra blessings too.

Friend, if you're downhearted
And have no peace deep within,
Then take Jesus as your Savior.
He'll forgive you of your sin.

Heaven

I attended the funeral of Frank Griffith today .. He passed one
day short of his 90th birthday. As his daughter tearfully read a
letter that he wrote as he neared 90, it was a profound writing
that reflected a life satisfied and well lived.

The letter:

One of the most difficult concepts for me to grasp or believe is
that of heaven. A place that's greater than that in which I
presently reside.

Can there be a location that's more beautiful, more comfortable
or even more interesting? I love the earth and the years of life
on earth I have been afforded. It's a glorious place to be.

There's only one privilege beyond that of being born in this
earth. It's being allowed to remain there many many years.
I have been granted that privilege.

God loves me.

I was upon earth, a citizen of the world's greatest country and
a member of a family that protected and cared for me. I have
lived long in a magnificent world. Each day has provided a new
miracle. And I now look upon my children and grandchildren and
know I am blessed with great wealth.

God loves me.
  Frank Griffith Oct. 23, 1923 - Oct. 22, 2013~

Once, having been asked by the Pharisees when the kingdom of God
would come, Jesus replied, "The kingdom of God does not come
with your careful observation, nor will people say, 'Here it
is,' or 'There it is,' because the kingdom of God is within you."
Luke 17:20-21 NIV

Abba

Abba

“Abba, Father,” Jesus said, “Take this cup from me”
whilst praying in the garden of Gethsemane.
“I know that all things are possible for You
and that there is nothing that You cannot do.”

“Yet not what I will but what You will,” He said
as in deep anguish great drops of blood He bled.
Then He went on to complete salvations plan
agreed by the Godhead before time began.

“Abba, Father,” like Jesus we too can cry
as we pour out our soul to the Lord on high.
For sons and daughters of Mighty God are we
and never more in slavery shall we be.

The Spirit of Christ is dwelling in our heart
and causes all the dread and fear to depart.
For our Lord Jesus drained that bitter cup dry
when He bowed His head upon the cross to die.

“Abba Father,” the Spirit has testified
that we’re the children for whom He has died.
We’re heirs of God and co-heirs with Jesus Christ
sharing in His suffering and sacrifice.

No more as orphans for the Father we know
we’re in His family where life's riches flow.
Led by the Spirit we gaze upon His face
and His love floods into our soul by His grace.

We are sons and daughters of the living God
when we walk the same pathway that Jesus trod.
We’re saved by His grace and purchased by His blood
and trusting in the promises of our God.
