Dishes

I wrote this  years ago ,
My Dad  had  died  and it was my Mother first year without Dad .
They had been marry for over 50 and it was Christmas .
Dishes
They had a set of dishes
Given them when they wed ,
With luck and happiness and wishes
By loved ones ,who to them said
They wished they’d always be happy
As the moment when,”I will,”
Was said with so much rapture
That their hearts were standing still.

The dishes tell a lovely story
Of the lives they were to live _
How they shone in all their glory
When the very frist forgive
Was whispered, and  I love you truly ,
Which made things right again ,
For it was just as surely said ,
As sun comes after rain

Time as long since passed ,
Since they were frist together ,
When  he’d sit  and gase and ask her
If she loved him as no other –
And she was just content
With the answer in her heart ,
For she knew that it was meant
That they should never part ..

Although their lives had many scars
Like cracks upon the china ,
Their love outshone the mars ,
For it was only minor ,
If  the one who’d done the wrong
Down in his heart had sorrow ,
For they never let the sun go down
Without a ,” Bright Tomorrow ,”

She’s an old lady now ,
And he is eight-two ,
The cups and saucers wonder
What the other one will do ,
Until they  both are able ,
To sit at God’s own perfect table ,
Be fed by His own  hand

A Prayer For Your Home

   A Prayer For Your Home

God bless this house and all within it;
Let no harsh spirit enter in it .
Let none approach who would betray;
None with a bitter word to say .
Shield it from and sorrow’s string ;
Here let the children’s laughter ring .
Grant that these friends from year to year
Shall build their happiest memories here .

God bless this home and those who love it ;
Fair be the skies which bend above it .
May never anger’s thoughtless word
Within these sheltering walls be heard .
May all who rest beside this fire
And then depart , glad thoughts inspire ;
And make them feel who close the door ,
Friendship has graced their home once more .

God bless this house and those who keep it ;
In the sweet oils of gladness steep it .
Endow these walls with lasting wealth ,
The light of love , the glow of health ,
The palm of peace ,the charm of mirth ,
Good friends to sit around the hearth ;
And with each nightfall perfect rest –
Here let them live their happiest .

Using Our Gifts

Using Our Gifts

Lord, to all you have given,
gifts to which You’ve entrust
so many diverse talents
You have given each of us.

You have endowed us all,
with spiritual abilities
so many of us are blessed
with unique qualities.

You awarded each one,
with their own personality
so together we can be one
regardless of our speciality.

We all have the capability,
but, sadly not the desire
to use our gifts and talents
to enlighten and inspire.

But, if we were all to choose,
to use the gifts given us
just think how many more . . .
in You, would place their trust!

10 Each one should use whatever gift
he has received to serve others, faithfully administering
God's grace in its various forms.

Hold to the Hand That Holds Us

Hold to the Hand That Holds Us

Hold to the hand that holds the sand that trickles through time’s glass
The Keeper of His promises knows what will come to pass
Then should the fight be hard and night reach far into the day
Still, hold the hand that holds us in each untold come-what-may

Hold to the hand that holds the land and sea in folds of blue
He parts the waters of the deep so that we may pass through
And should the way that he allows seem foreign to our want
Still, hold the hand that holds us close where fear and worry taunt

Hold to the hand that will not fail though oft it seems, we must
Yet, if we never failed then would we ever truly trust?
His hands are rich with mercy, granting courage for this strife
Hold to the hand that holds us in the gray and gold of life

Hold to the hand that holds the plans for every one of us
And wore the nails and bore the cross for our sin; Jesus
Hold to His hand, He understands what we can never know
Hold to the hand that holds us near and never lets us go

New Mercies

New Mercies
New mercies each day,
fall from heaven above
sprinkles of eternal hope
raindrops of God’s love.
Showers of grace upon us,
from the skies they descend
with promises one day . . .
to heaven, we will ascend.
New mercies each day,
to replenish and restore
grace today sufficient
tomorrow, will rain more.
In our weaknesses,
new mercies God sends
to heal and to comfort
to repair and to mend.
New mercies each day,
from heaven they flood
washing our sins clean
in Jesus’ precious blood.
When to God we confess,
the disease of our sin
new mercies He sends
to cleanse us within.
New mercies each day,
God’s love showers on us
great is His faithfulness
to those who do trust!
