Who is Jesus?

Who is Jesus?

The Bread of Life, the Door, the Way,
The Living Water too;
The Lord and Master we obey,
The Faithful and the True.

The First, the Last, the Lion, the Lamb,
The Beginning and the End;
Mighty to save, the Great I Am,
The Light, the sinner’s friend.

Son of God and Son of Man,
Son of David too;
The promised seed of Abraham,
The Prince of Peace, the Truth.

The Lily of the Valley,
Lord of Lord and King of kings;
The altogether lovely,
Man of Sorrows and Day Spring.

Rose of Sharon, Mediator,
Mighty God, the Counselor;
The Alpha and Omega,
And Zion’s Deliverer.

Beloved, Shiloh, Wonderful,
The Good, the Great Shepherd;
Messiah, Christ, Emmanuel,
And God’s eternal Word.

The image of the Father,
The Bridegroom, the Church’s Head;
The Holy Child, the Morning Star,
The Judge of quick and dead.

The Branch, the Vine, the Anchor,
Our prophet, priest and King;
The Advocate, Creator,
The maker of all things.

The Author of Salvation,
The Sun of Righteousness;
The Cornerstone, the one foundation,
Jesus of Nazareth.

AS I GROW OLD

AS I GROW OLD

As I grow old it seems that I
Grow old as grows the western sky
When day is coming to its close :
For life takes on a tint of rose
I had not known in life’s hot noon .
I see new stars I had not seen ,
A surer faith ,a peace serene ,
As I grow old .

As I grow old , like men at even ,
I turn my eyes again to heaven ,
That were so busy with the earth :
And there I find the things of worth ,
The things most beautiful of all .
Upon the world a fairer light ,
A golden glean ,a beacon bright ,
As I grow old .

As I grow old the winds of life
Die down ,the hate ,the hurt ,the strife .
The waters calm ,the waves are still .
I want no triumph, wish no ill
To any man . now from my heart
The ancient angers all depart .
New friends I know ,news songs are sung ,
New joys are mine – yes ,I grow young

As I grow old

The Walk of Faith

The Walk of Faith

Sometimes the Saviour asks of us to walk a path that’s dim,
We dare not try to look ahead but only look to Him.
The ground may be uneven and our walk feel insecure,
But when we look at Him we know He’s been this way before.

The Lord loves those who trust in Him, He puts them to the test.
He knows they won’t rely on self but say ‘The Lord knows best’
And very soon they realise (although it’s dark as night)
With Jesus there beside them they are walking in the light.

There comes a time for everyone to dare to follow through
And walk that path and learn of Him the Faithful and the True.
This path is of His choosing and our choice is to obey -
If we would be like Jesus then there is no other way.
