Mirror

Mirror

Oh mirror, mirror on the wall,
I see a battle raging in
This helpless fool about to fall;
I see him stumble after sin.

I see the weakness in his heart;
A darkness snuffing out the light.
I know someday the clouds will part
And end his painful, ceaseless fight.

Dear mirror, mirror look away
So I won’t see this broken soul.
He seeks to hide his life’s decay,
For sin has claimed a costly toll.

Why don’t I turn the lighting dim
So I won’t see this wretched slave?
I cannot see a hope for him.
It seems he’s too far gone to save.

So mirror, mirror is this true?
Oh, can I truly trust my eyes?
I see what seems a tainted view;
I wonder if you’re telling lies.

I see this sinner looking back
With eyes distorted by his shame.
You feature only flaws and lack.
I see you pointing, casting blame.

Oh mirror, mirror I can tell
You’re showing me an image of
A man who hasn’t done so well,
But you’re forgetting Jesus’ love.

This man I see with furrowed brow
Is covered by a mere façade.
I cannot comprehend it now,
But he’s a holy child of God.

Independence Day Traditions

Independence Day Traditions

Every Fourth of July in the USA,
We have a national celebration.
On that date in seventeen-seventy-six,
We became an independent nation.

The Declaration of Independence
Declared our nation to be free.
We were no longer part of England.
An independent nation we would be.

We celebrate with sparkling fireworks,
And we have parades and picnics too.
We have concerts and baseball games,
And we wear our red, white, and blue.

Barbecues, watermelons, and ice cream
Help to make the Fourth a festive day.
American flags fly for everyone to see.
Our national colors, we want to display.

Like a patriot, I love America, my home.
I try to pray for her each and every day.
I pray for God to guide her many leaders,
And I pray for God to bless the USA.

United, We Stand

United, We Stand

Hooray! For the Red, White, and Blue;
A flag that represents me and you.
All across America, may it wave;
For the home of the free and the brave.

We cry, "Stars and Stripes, forever";
Unity in our land, can we sever?
What our flag stands for, if we forget,
Our land will then see much regret.

Hardiness and valour is the color, Red;
Remember all who've fought, and those dead.
White represents innocence and purity;
Fifty Stars are for our States of Unity.

Blue, on our flag, stands for vigilance,
Justice for all, and perseverance.
May we pledge, "One Nation, Under God",
And keep on the right path, we're to trod.

Psalm 33:12-Blessed is the nation whose God is the Lord; and the people whom he hath chosen for his own inheritance.

An Independence Day Prayer

An Independence Day Prayer

Lord, on July fourth we'll celebrate
Independence Day in our nation.
You gave us the truth to set us free.
You sent Jesus to die for our salvation.

We thank you for the precious freedom
That we have in our nation today.
We know this country's not perfect,
But we honor our nation, the USA.

We thank you for the Founding Fathers,
Who for freedom took a brave stand.
Many placed their very lives in peril
To start a free country in a new land.

I thank you for the brave soldiers,
Who gave their lives to keep us free.
They gave their ultimate sacrifice
For freedom for Americans like me.

As we shoot fireworks and celebrate
With patriotic concerts and parades,
We thank you for all your blessings
And your great love that never fades.

As we gather with our loved ones
For picnics and barbecues and fun,
We want to thank you for everything,
Especially for sending your only Son!
