Here I am Lord

I, the Lord of sea and sky,
I have heard my people cry.
All who dwell in dark and sin,
My hand will save.
I, who made the stars of night,
I will make their darkness bright.
Who will bear my light to them?
Whom shall I send?
[ Lyrics from: http://www.lyricsmode.com/lyrics/t/the_vandals/here_i_am_lord.html ]
Here I am, Lord.
Is it I, Lord?
I have heard you calling in the night.
I will go, Lord, if you lead me.
I will hold your people in my heart.

I, the Lord of snow and rain,
I have borne my people's pain.
I have wept for love of them.
They turn away.
I will break their hearts of stone,
Give them hearts for love alone.
I will speak my words to them.
Whom shall I send?

I, the Lord of wind and flame,
I will send the poor and lame.
I will set a feast for them.
My hand will save.
Finest bread I will provide,
'Til their hearts be satisfied.
I will give my life to them.
Whom shall I send?

A man that give it all to follow Christ ( It is no secret }

The history of the song:
"It Is No Secret"
Back in the 50's there was a well known radio host/comedian/song writer in Hollywoodnamed Stuart Hamblen who was noted for his drinking, womanizing, partying, etc.
One of his bigger hits at the time was
"I won't go hunting with you Jake, but I'll go chasing women."

One day, along came a young preacher holding a tent revival.  Hamblen had him on his radio show presumably to poke fun at him. In order to gather more material for his show, Hamblen showed up at one of the revival meetings.

Early in the service the preacher announced, "There is one man in this audience who is a big fake." There were probably others who thought the same thing, but Hamblen was convinced that he was the one the preacher was talking about (some would call that conviction) but he was having none of that.

Still the words continued to haunt him until a couple of nights later he showed up drunk at the preacher's hotel door around 2AM, demanding that the preacher pray for him! But the preacher refused, saying, "This is between you and God and I'm not going to get in the middle of it." But he did invite Stuart in and they talked until about 5 AM at which point Stuart dropped to his knees and with tears,
cried out to God.

But that is not the end of the story. Stuart quit drinking, quit chasing women, quit everything that was 'fun.' Soon he began to lose favor with the Hollywood crowd.

He was ultimately fired by the radio station when he refused to accept a beer company as a sponsor.

Hard times were upon him.  He tried writing a couple of "Christian" songs but the only one that had much success was "This Old House", written for his friend Rosemary Clooney.

As he continued to struggle, a long time friend named John took him aside and told him, "All your troubles started when you 'got religion,' was it worth it all?"  Stuart answered simply, "Yes."

Then his friend asked, "You liked your booze so much, don't you ever miss it?" And his answer was, "No." John then said, "I don't understand how you could give it up so easily."

And Stuart's response was, "It's no big secret. All things are possible with God." To this John said, "That's a catchy phrase. You should write a song about it."

And as they say, "The rest is history."

The song Carl Stuart Hamblen wrote was "It Is No Secret."

"It is no secret what God can do. What He's done for others, He'll do for you.   With arms wide open, He'll welcome you. It is no secret, what God can do...."
By the way... the friend was John Wayne. And the young preacher who refused to pray for Stuart Hamblen? ...That was Billy Graham.

Share this with your friends ... I did! (Thanks Mary for forwarding this treasure 8/10/2007).

IT IS NO SECRET

The chimes of time ring out the news
Another day is through
Someone slipped and fell
Was that someone you?

You may have longed for added strength
Your courage to renew
Do not be disheartened
For I have news for you

It is no secret what God can do
What He's done for others, He'll do for you
With arms wide open, He'll pardon you
It is no secret what God can do

There is no night for in His light
You never walk alone
Always feel at home
Wherever you may go

There is no power can conquer you
While God is on your side
Take Him at His promise
Don't run away and hide

It is no secret what God can do
What He's done for others, He'll do for you
With arms wide open, He'll pardon you
It is no secret what God can do

God Knows Best

God Knows Best

Our Father knows what's best for us,
So why should we complain--
We always want the sunshine,
But He knows there must be rain--

We love the sound of laughter
And the merriment of cheer,
But our hearts would lose their tenderness
If we never shed a tear...

Our Father tests us often
With suffering and with sorrow,
He tests us, not to punish us,
But to help us meet tomorrow...

For growing trees are strengthened
When they withstand the storm,
And the sharp cut of a chisel
Gives the marble grace and form...

God never hurts us needlessly,
And He never wastes our pain
For every loss He send to us
Is followed by rich gain...

And when we count the blessings
That God has so freely sent,
We will find no cause for murmuring
And no time to lament...

For our Father loves His children,
And to Him all things are plain,
So He never sends us pleasure
When the soul's deep need is pain...

So whenever we are troubled,
And when everything goes wrong,
It is just God working in us
To make our spirit strong.

A Crushed Rose

A Crushed Rose

O, beautiful rose , please tell me ,
For I would like know
Why I must crush your petals
That the sweet perfume may flow .
O life that is clothed in beauty
Perhaps like that wonderful rose
You will need to be crushed by suffering
If the radiance of your life must glow
A life that is crushed by sorrow
Can feel for another’s grief ,
And send out that fragrance of love
That will bring some heart relief .
O , do not repine at your testing
When called to pass under the rod;
For your life the sweeter will be
If bless by the hand of God
Then let us rejoice  when He sendeth
Some sorrow or hardship that tries ,
And be glad to be crushed as the rose leaf
That a sweeter perfume may arise ,

I Know

I haves a very wide diversity of readers.
I know.

All who read my blog are drawn by the view of life and
circumstances that allow you to rise above the everyday trials,
I hope .    All don't have the same spiritual beliefs as I do.
I know.

Not only are we not all of the same religion, we are not of the
same race, nationality, or gender.
I know.

For those who don't believe in divine things,I
talks too much about such things.
I know.

For those who do believe, I  talks too little about
such things.
I know.

Some don't understand why I don't talk much more about religion.
Some don't understand why I talk as much as I do about religion.
Even if I talked about it 100% or 0%, everyone wouldn't agree
with what I said.
I know.

I try to keep the balance right.
I try to help everyone who signs up,
but I can't help everyone.
I know.

Around the world, each day, Some people depend upon these few
words to make them feel better, to think better and ultimately
to do better. Some issues fail to do that with many readers.
I know.

With complex situations, life will always involve choices of the
best way to get done what God has destined you to do.
People won't always agree with how you do it.
They can't always see what you see.
They often don't feel what you feel.
They may not know the total purpose.

Even I don't know the total purpose.
I only know what I am supposed to do to the best of my ability
and resources.

That's all that you can do.
The best that you can with your abilities and resources.
You know?
