The Fruit of the Spirit

The Fruit of the Spirit

Within each of us,
the Holy Spirit lives
and His awesome power
in our life's He wants to give.

But, we must feel the fire,
the burning of desire
to call upon His strength
so His might we'll acquire.

Once we have received,
this supernatural gift
our souls will belong to Him
and we'll no longer drift.

For, He'll anchor us in His love,
in all things, we'll have peace
and His unexplainable joy
in our life's will never cease.

We'll have patience for everyone,
to others we'll be kind
His gentleness and goodness
will fill our hearts and minds.

People will see that our faith,
is kind and full of justice
for our meekness will shine
as they learn to trust us.

Within each of us,
the Holy Spirit lives
and all of His fruits . . .
the Holy Spirit wants to give!

Blessed Holy Spirit of God

Blessed Holy Spirit of God

You came to me as gentle as a dove
satisfying me with Your warmth and love
then opened my eyes and helped me to see
the wonderful love Jesus had for me.

You breathed upon me Your life giving breath
taking away from me my fear of death
then made the Word of God alive in me
guiding and controlling my destiny.

You blew around me like a mighty wind
staying beside me as my constant friend
then descended on me in tongues of fire
purifying and filling me with desire.

You came and filled me with all Your fullness
purifying me with life and wholeness.
Dear Holy Spirit of my God Most High
thank you for not passing this sinner by.

Why Do I Believe?

Why Do I Believe?

When people ask me,
why I believe the way I do
why in God I still trust
after all I have been through?

I take my time to respond,
with meekness I explain . . .
it wasn't God who went away
it was I, who did not remain.

God has never left my side,
He has always been with me
it was I, who became blind
who chose His will not to see.

It was I, who took the chance,
who wandered off the path
it was I, who stopped believing
sin still stirred up His wrath.

God has never failed me,
He has waited for me patiently
it was I, who broke His heart
so very shamelessly.

It was I, who began to doubt,
who needed something more
it was I, who went out looking
behind every tempting door.

God's grace has covered me,
His mercy awaited my return
it was I, who needed reminding
for my sins, in hell I'd burn.

Lord, when people ask me,
why I believe the way, I do . . .
I tell them that temptation's door
kept leading me back to You.

Nothing's Too Hard For God

Nothing's Too Hard For God

Sometimes I get so befuddled,
That I don't know where to turn.
Cares of this life weigh me down
With the troubles they concern.

I must always remind myself
I have access to a higher power.
I don't need to worry and fret.
God is with me every hour.

God is with me in the sunshine
And when the dark shadows fall.
I am His blood-bought child,
And upon Him I can always call.

He can solve all my problems.
For Him, nothing is too hard.
God always knows what I need.
He is never caught off guard.

Yes, when I feel downhearted
With some trifling, worldly care,
I must take this burden to God,
And then I must leave it there.

Solid Rock

Solid Rock

Some people have their head in a cloud
and some people climb on top.
Some people jump from cloud to cloud
and never seem to stop.

Some people dream a million dreams
and some people live to work.
Some seek out fun so far and wide
where wages of sin lurk.

They're trapped in a fog of deceptive white
that floats on a hopeless air -
then sooner or later find out that
there's no foundation there.

For God is the only solid rock
where feet can be planted firm -
not in the clouds of 'here and now'
but eternity, long-term.

To Be Like Me

To Be Like Me

Are you living a life that you want your children to see?
Can you say to yourself, I want them to be like me?
Do your actions imitate those of God?
Are you on a path that you want them to trod?

Are you showing your children selfishness and greed?
Or are you showing them to give to those in need?
Do your children see you seek the Lord's guidance everyday
Do they see you get down on your knees and pray?

Do they see you give from your heart?
Through you, do they see God's love impart?
Do they see you give your neighbors a helping hand?
See compassion from you for your fellow man.

Do you spend lots of time with them each day?
And when you do are you careful with the words you say?
Do you take them to church on Sunday morn?
Have you taught them what it means to be reborn?

One of the most important jobs you will have on earth
One of the jobs that gives your life great worth
Is raising your children to follow God's word
Leading them by example and being heard

Teach your children to live by the golden rule
In everything they do; at home, at play, at school
Show them how to have a loving heart
For it's from you that they get their start

Can you honestly say, "I want them to be like me"
I want them to imitate my actions that they see
I want them to repeat the words I say
And I want them to live like me each and everyday

Take a long hard look at the life you live
Are you sure this is the example you want to give????

Spiritual Fruit

Spiritual Fruit

The fruits of the Spirit are given to us
By our Father from Heaven above
And through the Spirit of Christ Himself
He gave us the fruit of love

On this tree grows spiritual fruit
Such as joy that we can feel each day
He gives us peace and patience
But this tree has much more to say

There is kindness, goodness and faithfulness
That grows on this heavenly tree
They can change our lives right before our eyes
Not just for us, but for all to see

Then there's gentleness and self control
These fruits can be hard to bear
But because of the gift God gave to us
These things we all can share

Thank you Lord for this tree of life
That comes in this spiritual form
For without these fruits life can be real cold
But with them our lives feel warm.
