Winter Still

Winter Still

An icy grip in winter still
The frozen pond ore yonder hill
Resemble my own frigid state
Among those who for Springtime wait

Perhaps my fevered, hurried pace
Has taken toll and does erase
The faithful calls of silence, shrill
Amid the quiet winter still

A thoughtful act to reminisce
Of what I gain, not what I miss
A sublime lesson for my will
To rest in God in winter still

Snow too shall pass as seasons do
All old and cold gives way to new
Lord help me not to rush and fill
But truly live in winter still

And now in Christ I trust to find
With open eyes that once were blind
A new God-given gracious thrill
In treasure laden winter still
