Dear Lord

Dear Lord

Every morning when I rise,
I know I have a price to pay,
Dear Lord, before every eyes,
Give me the best words to say.

I know I may not be the best today,
But that doesn't mean tomorrow will be the same,
Dear Lord, give me skills I pray,
To come out very victorious in this life's game.

Who am I that you are so mindful of me,
I'm not better of than a condemned sinner,
Dear Lord, open my eyes to see,
The essence of staying in you even deeper.

My earnest desire is to stay with you forever,
But sometimes I derail when life makes me suffer,
Dear Lord, help me hold fast to you to cross life's river,
That I may finally enjoy the benefits of knowing you better.

I seek peace everyday of my life,
But each day I'm faced with different forms of violence,
Dear Lord help me to live above this strife,
That I may fulfill the true essence of my existence.

I've come a very long way this far,
And I can't turn to go back to where I started from,
Dear Lord, give me grace to push further,
That I may be readily available when you shall come.

Finally, my utmost prayer is this,
When your trumpet shall sound,
And you shall come in peace,
Dear Lord, may I in thee be found.

It Is Finished

It Is Finished

It is finished!
Completed at the cross
All my sin dealt with
Free from guilt and dross.

It is finished!
The veil rent apart
A new covenant started
Creating a brand new heart.

It is finished!
The law made obsolete
A perfect high priest
His sacrifice complete

It is finished!
The final cry released
History separated
The wrath of God appeased.

It is finished!
The power of hell disarmed
The ministry of death defeated
Freed from trouble and harm.

It is finished!
The glory of God showered
Incredible encounter
His victory empowered.

It is finished!
The wonder of his love
Grace overflowing
Blessing poured down from above.

Not To Be Despised

Not To Be Despised

Sitting near the window in a wooden rocking chair,
A feeble woman holds a book and reads with special care.
With house shoes on her weary feet the night air has a chill,
On her lap - the afghan which she made with special skill.

Sometimes she nods, sometimes she sighs, sometimes she laughs out loud.
Sometimes her eyes are lifted up, sometimes her head is bowed.
From time to time she says “amen!” at times she says “Oh my!”
Often she is known to be so happy she could cry.

The book is called the Bible and it tells her of her Lord.
It speaks of faith, and hope, and love, it speaks of rich reward.
It tells her of the heaven where her dearest friends now dwell.
It tells her how the work of Christ has saved her soul from hell.

Each narrative has a special place, each parable a home,
In her heart, and to her taste, it is a honeycomb.
They tell her now it’s all a myth, and worthy of the fire.
She answers, “Let my God be true, and every man a liar.”

This woman is a princess in God’s family of love,
She may look poor but she is blessed with riches from above.
For with this Bible in her hands and faith within her heart,
She lives upon the promises and strength that they impart.

This dear saint has discovered - the answers to this life,
She’s found a place of refuge in the midst of pain and strife.
Her confidence, her trust, her love, are not to be despised,
For when this life is over it will all be realized!

Daily Sunshine

Daily Sunshine

Not every day brings sunshine, for
some will bring gloom,
Replacing all the joy that had once
filled the same room.
Changing the good times into bad
times for those within,
Then not at all a pleasant day such
as yesterday had been.

This gloom fills the rooms of both
the wealthy and poor,
As days continue to come, there is
likely to be many more.
Some clear out quickly while others
just linger on,
Staying around long enough to test
one's faith before it's gone.

Now there could be some growth in
faith during troubled days,
As God is called on and kept around
for longer stays.
However this faith could weaken as
He receives the blame,
Giving the relationship with Him, an
ugly stain.

The praises to God flow easily when
all is going well,
Then in tough times they seem to go
through a dry spell.
Fact is, God was there both times for
He loves us even when we fail,
Enough love to send His Only Son to
keep us from the fires of hell.

Safe in Your Hands

Safe in Your Hands

Though I fall
You catch me
Though I stall
You push me

Though I cry
You lift me
Though I sigh
You show me

So I see
I am safe
Totally
In Your Grace

A Father's Prayers

A Father's Prayers

A father rose early every morning,
And for his prodigal son he would pray,
"Lord, please save my dear son
And please bring him home today."

The weeks slowly turned into months,
And the months turned into years.
Still everyday the sad father prayed,
And he shed thousands of tears.

The father never gave up on his son,
Though he strayed so far away.
The son had been away so long,
But the father never ceased to pray.

One day the father's pastor told him,
"I'm preaching at the mission in town.
Please come help me at the meeting
When to the altar, the men come down."

The father saw a man at the altar,
So he went and knelt by his side.
"I want to ask God to save me tonight.
I have waited too long," the man cried.

This father led this man to Christ.
They stood and looked at each other.
"Dad!" the younger man began to cry,
"I have really missed you and Mother!"

The father and son then embraced,
And they both cried joyful tears.
"Let's go home now, my dear Son.
Your Mother hasn't seen you in years."

God honored the prayers of this father,
And He really gave him a great reward.
In God's infinite wisdom, He allowed him
To lead his very own son to the Lord.

The True Voice

The True Voice

His Voice rang out through cosmos wide
He spoke and time began
His speech created earth and sky
And stars like grains of sand
All seas and valleys, fish and birds
Were animated by His words

He later talked with men of old
And led them by the hand
He warned through many prophets bold
Of straying from his commands
He sought to guide and to impart
To people after his own heart

The Voice stepped down onto our globe
He stooped down willingly
Became a servant, bringing hope
And power to set us free
He spoke of sin and consequence
But uttered naught in self defense

And so the Voice was sent to die
To hang upon a tree
He bore the brunt of all our sins
And suffered lovingly
He gave his life, his arms stretched out
His death on Calvary was His shout

That said to us "I love you so"
The cross can leave no doubt
Three days dragged by in silence, though
Then victory's cry rang out
Restored to life -- the one true Voice
Let all of heaven and earth rejoice

His voice is oft heard low and soft
In timbre small and hushed
Unless we're still it can be lost
In lives bustling and rushed
But if we stop and tune our ear
The Shepherd's voice will still ring clear
