Because I'm Human

Because I'm Human

Because I’m Human
Because I am not perfect ,
My best intentions seen
To sometimes miss fillment ,
Like the texture of a dream ,
And I wage a daily battle ,
That I very often lose ,
Between the things that matter,
And the ones I seen to choose .

Because I am no angel ,
I am easy to mislead ,
In spite of what I know is right ,
I’m swayed by pride and greed .
Sometimes I think I love the world
Too much to want to leave ,
Though Eternity awaits me ,
And all that I believe ,

My free will is a problem ,
How easy it would be ,
If God made the decisions ,
And took the job from me
But in this there is no merit ,
I am very well aware ,
So I have to work for Heaven ,
Every moment I am here.

And just because I’m human ,
It might take a little long ,
To be come what I was meant to be ,
Since I’m really not that strong .
So I’ll just keep on a trying ,
and I’ll live from day to day ,
For my spirit is immortal ,
…Though my body’s made of clay ,

Summer Days ( A Time of Forgetting)

Summer Days ( A Time of Forgetting)

Oh, those busy summer days;
People seem to be busy always.

There are those who go to the pool;
Just a few hours to keep cool.

Some take off to the lake;
Catching fish is a piece of cake.

Many people go on vacation;
A time for fun and relaxation.

Money is spent on this or that;
For kid's toys or Mom's new hat.

Come Sunday, many seem to forget;
And do things they'll later regret.

You're on vacation, God will understand;
Going to church, you hadn't planned.

God is the creator of it all;
Winter, spring, summer, and fall.

Give God the glory that is due;
He never forgets about you.

The Road To Calvary

The Road To Calvary

The Bible is an atlas
and the verses are a map
that shows each person
exactly where they're at.
Don't take a detour,
no telling where they'll lead
for there aren't any detours
on the road to Calvary.

Jesus is the bridge
that connects us to our God
and He walked the trail
that you and I have trod.
He paved the way for us
by dying for our sin.
How we don't have to go
exactly where He's been.

He walked the road to Calvary
and took a trip to hell
and preached to the sinners
that had already fell.
He showed them the scars
that upon His back He bore
and those that came back with Him,
a robe and crown they wore.

Listen very carefully
for now it's time to go.
Jesus loves you more
than you will ever know.
Follow the map
that He left for you and me,
for there aren't any detours
on the road to Calvary.

His Pow'rs Attain

His Pow'rs Attain

The earths do quake and mountains shake,
The seas do roar and comes before.
The storms do break, hear noise they make,
O nature's lore, your wrath devour.

Now guns do fire which men desire,
Yes bombs do blow and overthrow.
Yet lusts admire though souls do tire,
O to and fro do evil grow.

Then comprehend short lives do end,
Those flowers die come moments by.
Though deeds do trend and hearts amend,
O true we cry that death is nigh.

Fear not, my soul, when troubles howl,
For God, He reigns, He's Sovereign.
For one and all, He made things whole,
'Tis my refrain,--"His pow'rs attain!"

Burst's of Spring

Burst's of Spring

Bursts of Spring,
are in the air . . .
tiny glimpses of
days warm and fair.

A tree bud,
a poppy bloom
heals the ache
of winter’s gloom.

Bursts of Spring,
fill my sights
to warm my thoughts
on still cold nights.

A bird’s faint song,
a mostly blue sky
the last snow flake
to float on by.

Little-bitty bursts of Spring,
God is starting to send
to remind me warmer days
are just around the bend.!
Proverbs 27:25

“The hay appeareth,
and the tender grass
sheweth itself,
and herbs of the
mountains are gathered.”

Come home it's Suppertime

When I was but a boy in days of childhood
I used to play till evening shadows come.
Then winding down an old familiar pathway
I heard my mother call at set of sun
Come home, come home
It's supper time
The shadows lengthen fast.
Come home, come home,
It's supper time
We're going home at last.
One day beside her bedside I was kneeling,
And angel wings were winnowing through the air.
She heard her call for supper time in heaven
And now I know she's waiting for me there.
Come home, come home
It's supper time
The shadows lengthen fast.
Come home, come home,
It's supper time,
We're going home at last.
In visions now I see her standing yonder,
And her familiar voice I hear once more.
The banquet table's ready up in heaven,
It's supper time upon that golden shore.
Come home, come home
It's supper time,
The shadows lengthen fast.
Come home, come home,
It's supper time,
We're going home at last.
We're going home at last.

The Library of the Soul (Your Own Psalm 23)

The Library of the Soul (Your Own Psalm 23)

Watching the birds
Do their own special dance
Chirping a song
From branch to branch
The leaves sway slowly
In the softness of breeze
The music of the wind
The waltz of the trees
Sunlight kisses
The waters of the pond
Ducks swirl and play
Near the ballet of a swan
The cat-tail flow and flurry
Like a hand on piano keys
Sitting in silence
Your heart falls to its knees
A symphony of praise
Not every man can see
Restoring the soul
Your own Psalm 23

Homeless and cold
Scuffing down the street
Your view from behind
The sadness of feet
Cracks in the sidewalk
Seem to crawl on his hands
The wrinkled of life
In the hour glass sands
You catch him by the arm
And give him a treat
Your paper bagged lunch
Something to eat
You talk for a while
Sitting on the stairs
He wraps around your heart
And he'll stay in your prayers
He leadeth you down
The righteousness path
Your own Psalm 23
Where your soul takes a bath

Alone at your desk
Meditating on your read
The wisdom of God's word
Will lovingly lead
Beside the still waters
And the green pasture's graze
His rod and His staff
Brings peace to your days
You bow your head in prayer
And speak to the Lord
Communion with Christ
Can be every man's reward
In your quiet time together
And the bending of your knee
He will meet you where you are
Your own Psalm 23...
